A Tribute to Quiet Strength
There’s a kind of horse you never forget—steady, loyal, and quietly courageous. Moment in the Spotlight was created in honor of horses like that. Inspired by my dad’s horse, Yen, this piece captures the quiet dignity of a strong, dependable partner, standing calmly in a shaft of light.
This pastel painting received the Publisher’s Award of Excellence at the 37th Annual American Plains Artists Juried Exhibit, held at Ft. Concho National Historic Landmark in San Angelo, Texas. It was an honor, but more importantly, it felt like a way to pay tribute to the kind of horse that carried us through life’s hardest trails.
