Artist Statement | Barby Schacher | Western Pastel Artist
As an artist, my work is deeply rooted in the rich traditions and timeless beauty of the American West. Drawing inspiration from my childhood experiences on the ranch, rodeo adventures, and my deep connection to the land and its animals, my paintings aim to capture moments that evoke both nostalgia and reverence for the western way of life.
I specialize in creating detailed original pastel paintings that bring the West to life. Horses, cattle, cowboys, and everyday ranch life are my subjects—each piece telling a story of strength, resilience, and the enduring spirit of the West. Pastel, with its ability to capture texture and intricate detail, is my medium of choice. I carefully layer color upon color to bring depth and vibrancy to every piece, ensuring that each painting is a true reflection of the subject’s essence.
Every painting I create is a personal journey, one that allows me to preserve the beauty and significance of the Western way of life through my own lens. My goal is to share the untold stories of the land, the animals, and the people who shape it, and to offer a visual tribute to a tradition that has shaped who I am today. I hope that my artwork resonates with others who share a similar love for the American West.
Through my work, I strive to honor this heritage, offering collectors and art lovers alike the chance to own a piece of that history. These original pastel paintings are more than just images—they are pieces of a larger story that connects us all to the enduring legacy of the West.
