A Fan Favorite with Heart and History
There’s something about the wide-eyed gaze of a curious calf that melts your heart—and I’ve seen that look more times than I can count, growing up on a working ranch. “Peek-A-Moo” captures that moment perfectly: a baby calf peeking out with innocent curiosity, full of personality and charm.
This original pastel painting quickly became a collector favorite, and it holds a special place in my heart. “Peek-A-Moo” was awarded the McCalla Award for People’s Choice at the Mountain Oyster Club’s 51st Annual Contemporary Western Art Show and Sale in Tucson, Arizona. It was a deeply meaningful honor—not just because it was chosen by the Club’s members and staff, but because of the legacy it represents.
The McCalla Award was created in memory of Denise McCalla, the Mountain Oyster Club’s longtime Art Director, who was known for her deep love of both animals and art. Having this piece selected for the award that bears her name was one of the most touching milestones of my art career.
